Terms of service
The rules we follow today.
The formal terms of service will be published after legal review. Until then, here are the principles the service actually follows today.
This document is a work in progress. This page is not legally binding terms. It describes how the service works today, and the formal terms take priority once they are published.
What the service does
Unknown is a platform that connects Korean cosmetics factories with customers who want to make small batches. The factory makes the product and sets the price and production terms. Every factory on Unknown has a minimum order of 1 unit.
How an order proceeds
- When the customer submits an order, the factory reviews it.
- If the factory accepts, payment instructions appear.
- Production starts after the payment is confirmed.
- When production ends, the order ships, and the customer receives it and confirms the inspection. If no problem is reported within 7 days after the order is marked as delivered, the inspection is treated as complete automatically.
Until you pay, you can cancel for free from the order page. Once payment is confirmed, production begins, so any change needs a separate agreement. Amounts shown are the prices at the time of the quote. The full flow is on How it works.
Custom requests
Describing what you want in a custom request is free. Receiving a factory's offer doesn't confirm an order; production starts only after you accept the offer and the factory takes the order.
Receiving abroad
Cosmetics import rules differ by country, so depending on the destination, shipping may be difficult, quantities may be limited, or documents may be required. For overseas shipping, the factory quotes the actual freight and the customer pays after confirming it; duties and customs fees are not included. Registration, notification and labeling rules in the destination country are the buyer's responsibility. Business customers go through a review by our team.
Protection of formula information
A factory's formula information (such as the full ingredient list) can be seen only by the customer of an order, and only after the factory accepts that order. A record of each view is sent to the factory. This information may be used only to make the product for that order; it may not be given to another manufacturer or any third party, or used to make copies. This is included in the consent items on the order form.
Still to be decided
Fees, detailed refund and dispute rules, the scope of liability, and governing law and jurisdiction will be set in the formal terms. Business details and the mail-order business registration number will also be added before the official launch.
